Cons: -Is not very prepared.
-Too focused on getting through his lectures that he stops good discussion and does not realize when the WHOLE class is lost
-You won't learn much about cultural anthropology other than him drilling the definition of certain vocab words.
-Tries to tie the vocab words with examples but rather than giving one concrete example that students can remember, he gives 10 small examples that students never remember because they're too busy trying to figure out how it relates
-His essay questions are very vague and difficult to understand what he wants, and though they are vague he expects particular things that he doesn't specify in the prompt.
-Lots of reading, he expects everyone to read his readings TWICE. Reading doesn't pay off because I read every reading but people who didn't do the reading did better on the mid-term.
Don't take this class unless you have no other option or its for your major. It is guaranteed to lower your GPA and you will walk out frustrated having not learned anything properly. I have not talked to a single person in my class who was enjoying his class and learning. As an introduction to cultural anthropology you would expect it to be interesting and learning about other cultures, but instead this class scares away people from anthropology. Don't take this for a GE, he does not make it interesting, understandable, enjoyable, and definitely not easy!
